When should I start working on my college essays?

The summer before your senior year is the best time to start working
on your college essays. With little or no homework, you can spend time on
your essays without the pressure of other school assignments and avoid the
panic that comes with procrastination. If summer's come and gone, don't
worry, we can still get you from start to finish in time to meet your deadline. 

How does college essay coaching work?

Depending on your location and individual preference, we can meet in person and/or remotely (FaceTime/Skype/Zoom). Feedback, instructions, and revisions are primarily exchanged through Google Docs with follow-up via text, email, and phone. Because essay writing is a very personal process, it can be easier to write according to your schedule (within a time frame we devise for you) without someone standing over your shoulder. If you prefer to work one-on-one at a regularly scheduled time, we can arrange that as well.

​Where are you located?

We are based in Chicago but work virtually with clients from all locations.

I only need you to proofread the final draft of my college essay. Is that okay? 

We are happy to be involved at the very start of your college essay writing process to help with topic selection and early drafts but we are available to step in at any stage along the way including final polishing and proofreading.  

Do you offer college counseling services other than essay writing?

Take the Leap offers individualized college admission counseling for all stages of the application process including college list selection; advice on high school course/activity selection; test prep guidance; help navigating the Common and Coalition applications; and, of course, college essay brainstorming and editing. Unlike other companies who offer a full menu of college counseling services, we do not outsource the essay writing portion.

We can but we won't. Trust us, no one can tell your story better than you.

How do you charge?

The time it takes to complete an essay and/or prepare college applications varies from student to student.
We can be there from start to finish or step in at any stage in the process. We offer an hourly rate as well as
cost-saving packages.
